From the Chair of LVV Board – Apr 2022

The response to our advertisements for the CEO’s position has been very encouraging and the Board are looking forward to interviewing a short list of applicants by the end of this month.  I believe the reputation for quality care by Latrobe Valley Village has been instrumental in attracting such an excellent field and that reputation must be attributed to our wonderful staff and management team.

For the last six months our Facility Care Manager, Ms Trish Maher, has capably steered the LVV ship as Acting CEO.  In this time she as led the way with two major grant submissions involving enormous work by staff to provide the requisite details under very tight deadlines, dealt with an outbreak of Covid19 within the facility and its aftermath of staff shortages and extra workload plus advocated on behalf of staff in remuneration matters, all the while handling the day-to-day management of LVV without missing a beat.  However, with our Accreditation scheduled for later this year, Trish has elected to resume her Facility Care Manager role to ensure LVV has the best preparation in readiness for the assessors.  The Board is enormously grateful to Trish and appreciate the wonderful leadership she has provided.

As the recruitment process for the incoming CEO is not yet completed, Board member and Chair of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, Ms Diane Wilkinson, has agreed to step down from the Board and accept the appointment as Interim CEO with effect from 18th May.  Ms Wilkinson will continue in this role until a permanent CEO takes up the appointment.  As a local with extensive experience in the healthcare industry at senior management level and personal knowledge of LVV, Diane has the complete confidence of the Board to assume all executive management responsibilities while Interim CEO.  I know everyone will make Diane welcome so, if you get the chance, I encourage you introduce yourself & say g’day.

Winter is approaching with colder days and nights ahead, the smell of wood fires in the air and the opportunity to bring out all those winter woollies again, so until the next Bulletin,

Laurie Watters
