From the Chair of LVV Board – Mar 2022

The Latrobe Valley Village Board of Management meets on the third Wednesday of each month.  We deal with matters relating to the governance of our Hostel and Independent Living Units and receive reports from Board Committees on governance issues and the Senior Management about the operational management of the Village.

The quest to find a new CEO has commenced with the Board giving its approval to Brooker Consultancy to take on the recruitment search at our March meeting.  Advertisements have already appeared in The Age, Latrobe Valley Express & Warragul Gazette newspapers as well as a variety of online platforms.  With Latrobe Valley Village’s excellent reputation within the aged care industry your Board is confident of attracting a worthy applicant to the position.  Naturally this will take a little time so we ask our residents, families and staff for their patience and understanding.  In the meantime I’m sure everyone will agree that Trish and the management team, in fact the entire staff, are doing an excellent job ensuring the smooth running of business-as-usual is maintained.

Meanwhile, a some of other items of interest:

  • We have applied for the Business Improvement Fund – this is a Federal grant that is provided to improve residential aged care operations and viability, and to assist in the provision of high quality care for senior Australians.  As reported in the last Board Bulletin it was decided to investigate the installation of WiFi within the Hostel but this has been expanded to encompass an upgrade & integration of all LVV IT systems to enhance our quality management.
  • In anticipation of a successful negotiation of the 2022 EBA, the Board decided to implement an “in good faith” pay increase to staff in recognition of the extraordinary contribution each and every one has made during these most difficult times.
  • Installation completed of access doors near Magnolia and air-conditioning to Rosewood Wing.

I trust everyone enjoyed a happy and peaceful Easter, Ramadan or Passover.
