From the Board of Governance

We’re pleased to share some exciting updates and achievements from across our organisation:

✅ New Enterprise Agreement Finalised
We’ve successfully negotiated a new four-year Enterprise Agreement with the ANMF and HWU. The agreement was strongly supported by employees in a recent vote, and we’re proud to continue supporting our valued workforce. Fair Work Commission endorsement is the next step.

🏠 Key Worker Accommodation Underway
Transformation of former aged care rooms into key worker accommodation is progressing well, thanks to funding from the Rural Worker Accommodation Fund (Victoria). This initiative will help attract and retain essential staff in our region.

🛠️ Retirement Village Renovations
We’re excited to announce the conversion of our studio apartments into one-bedroom units in the Retirement Village. Two have already been completed, with another two planned—offering more comfort and space for our residents.

🌏 Welcoming International Staff
We’re delighted to welcome new team members from the Philippines, helping to bridge workforce shortages and enhance the quality of care we provide.

🌿 Walk and Talk Mental Health Program
Our Australia Post Community Grant-funded Walk and Talk program has wrapped up successfully. This initiative connected people with nature, encouraged open conversations about mental health, and funded Mental Health First Aid training for our staff. It involved residents from our aged care and retirement village communities, including Orana members.

🛡️ Cyber Safety for Seniors
With support from the Department of Home Affairs, we’ve launched a Cyber Security Grant project to raise awareness among seniors about scams, phishing, and online safety. This program will run through 2025–26 and includes training for staff and community members across LVV, Orana, and beyond.

👥 New Board Members
We warmly welcome Michelle Denman and Marcus McKenzie to the Board. They bring valuable clinical and financial expertise that will strengthen our governance and strategic direction.

📘 Preparing for Legislative Changes
We’re actively preparing for the introduction of the new Aged Care Act and strengthened standards in November 2025, as well as the new Retirement Villages Act coming in 2026.

We thank our staff, residents, families, and community partners for their ongoing support and commitment. Together, we’re building a stronger, more responsive, and more caring future.
