Judy has lived and worked in Gippsland all her life, completing her general nursing training at the old Yallourn hospital in 1970 then transferring to the newly built Moe hospital in 1972. She was appointed Nurse Unit manager of the Intensive care unit in 1980, a position which she held until the unit’s closure in 1994. She then took on the role of Nurse Unit manager of the Emergency department and high dependency units of Latrobe Regional Hospital in Moe.
In 1999, she was appointed Nurse Unit manager of the High Dependency unit at Warragul Hospital until retiring in 2015. Since that time, she has continued to work casually at Maryvale Private Hospital until 2018 and also continues to work with Warragul hospital. She joined the LVV Board of Governance in 2010.
