We are pleased to provide an update on several important initiatives and achievements across Latrobe Valley Village.
Welcome to a New Board Director
We recently welcomed Victor DeBeer to a casual Board vacancy. Victor brings valuable skills and experience that will contribute to the Board’s stewardship and strategic direction.
Acknowledging Board Service
We also extend our sincere thanks to Judy Redman, who has retired from the Board after almost 16 years of dedicated service. Judy has made a significant contribution to the organisation, including chairing the Clinical Governance Committee since 2016. On behalf of the organisation, we thank Judy for her commitment, leadership and support provided over many years.
Planning for the Future
The Board has commenced work on our next strategic plan, which will guide the organisation beyond 2026. We greatly appreciate the feedback received from residents, team members and managers through our recent survey. Their feedback will help shape our priorities and direction for the years ahead. We aim to have a draft plan available prior to the AGM.
Strengthening Governance
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, Board members have recently participated in governance development sessions focused on effective governance practices. Ongoing education helps ensure the Board remains well equipped to oversee an increasingly complex and changing aged care environment.
Association Rules Review
We are updating the Association’s Rules to align with current legislative requirements for incorporated associations. This review will ensure our governance framework remains contemporary, compliant, and fit for purpose as the organisation continues to evolve.
Preparing for Aged Care Reform
We have received our invitation to renew our registration as a residential aged care provider. Pleasingly, preparations are well advanced to demonstrate compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024 and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, which commenced on 1 November 2025. We thank our leadership team and staff for their considerable work in preparing for these important reforms.
Retirement Village Changes
We are also implementing changes to align with the new retirement village legislation and regulations that commenced on 1 May. A significant milestone was the approval of a new set of Retirement Village By-Laws by residents, helping ensure our community remains well governed and responsive to contemporary requirements.
Celebrating Our Volunteers
We recently held a belated National Volunteer Week celebration after the event was postponed due to a COVID outbreak. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank our dedicated volunteers for the invaluable contribution they make to the lives of our residents, retirement village community and organisation. We are deeply grateful for their generosity, commitment and support.
Investing in Our Facilities
A range of building and equipment improvement projects continue across the organisation. These investments help ensure our facilities remain contemporary, safe and comfortable for residents, visitors and staff.
Supporting Sector Improvement
LVV continues to contribute to broader aged care industry initiatives, including independent surveys and studies. Participation in these programs helps inform policy, funding and quality improvements across the sector.
